TRIVIUM Frontman Is 'Honored' To Play This Year's DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL
February 2, 2006Orlando, Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM have been confirmed to play — alongside THE PRODIGY and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE — at this year's Download Festival, set to take place June 9-11 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, England. More acts will be announced each week leading up to the event.
TRIVIUM are infamously connected with the festival after they were moved to the main stage last year following their stellar performance on the Roadrage Tour. As a result, the performance received a host of accolades, including Kerrang!'s 10th best gig of all time.
TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy relishes thoughts of last year's event: "It was a rainy, dreary, grey, chilly morning in jolly old England last June at Donington Park when I remember trying to run in place to shake off some nerves and warm up before our bumped-up-from-third-stage-to-main-stage Download show. The doors weren't open yet, and goddamn was that the biggest empty field I ever saw in my life. I was nervous. But when those doors opened, TRIVIUM was witness to a new beginning 40,000 screaming, moshing fans filled into a sea of bodies.
"Download 2005 was the turning point of our career, and after that show, people knew who we are and what we are planning to do... take over this world.
"To be part of this incredible festival again this year is an honor. Last year it made TRIVIUM a much bigger band and I can only imagine what the hell this year holds for us. One thing is certain, it draws us closer to our ultimate goal."
